Places To Visit In Almora
1. Gobind Vallabh Pant Public Museum
It is the only museum in Almora and surely deserves a visit. The museum has a good collection of historical Items. It is also very good for the students to know about the history and heritage of Almora. It is a must visit place for people who have ardent desire to explore places like museums and unfold the glorious past.
2. Binsar Bird Sanctuary
Binsar sanctuary is situated on the top of Jhandi Dhar Hills. This sanctuary is a densely forested beautiful place where mother earth blossoms in all her glory. It offers a variety of different species of birds and animals. Visiting here one can relish themselves with the mesmerizing view of snow-capped mountains from a place called zero point in the sanctuary.
3. Nanda Devi Temple
In the centre most part of Almora is the most revered deity of Garhwal and Kumaun region of Uttarakhand. Nanda Devi is known as the “Destroyer of Evil” hence, many Hindu pilgrims religiously visits this holy place. This mythological temple is believed to be 1000 years old and is dedicated to goddess Parvati the deity and the daughter of the people of Kumaun.

Swami Vivekanand was one of the earliest pilgrims to Kasar Devi. He had meditated near Kasar Devi. This place is located above the ridge of Almora town. Kesar Devi is just 30 kms away from Binsar sanctuary. This beautiful spot is about 8 kms north of Almora and is also known as Crank’s ridge.
6. Dunagiri
Dunagiri is a significant area in Almora district in the state of Uttarakhand. According to the traditional folk lore, it is said that this town was regularly visited by Rishis-Munis who came here later established their ashrams amid nature. Dunagiri also traces its history back to the mythological time when Pandavas came to this place and take shelter here.
