All you need to know about The Kanchenjunga National Park in Pelling
Situated at a distance of 32 km from Pelling is the ultimate commixture of flora, fauna, avifauna and blissful glaciers. The most refreshing experience here is the trekking you can undergo. But remember to get the permit from the Wildlife Education and Interpretation centre at Yuksom. Also known as the Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve; the national park was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2016.
Located amidst the pleasant surroundings of Kanchenjunga range of snow-crested mountains which is the third highest peak in the world. The wild animals you might encounter here are the musk deer, snow leopard, clouded leopard and Himalayan tahr other than the breathtaking site of the glaciers it is bordered by including the Zemu glacier. The national park is envisaged between Qomolangma National Nature Preserve in Tibet in the north and the west by the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area in Nepal. You can look through the canopies of oaks, fir, birch, ample, willow etc.

Entry Fee
The entry fee details differ from person to person. The Indian nationals have to pay 200 INR. Foreign nationals have to pay 400 INR. Indian students have to pay 40 INR. Tourist guides have to pay INR 20 and tent pitching is INR 40 per tent.

The nearest railway station to the city is the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in West Bengal situated at a distance of 134 km and takes around 4 hours and 37 minutes to reach the lake. The nearest airport is the Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri in Darjeeling.
