All you need to know about The Tso Lhamo Lake in lachen
Also known as the Cholamu Lake, Choo Lhamo and the Cholamu Lake; it is situated at an altitude of 5330 meters which is the highest such lake of its kind in Indian and 14th in the world. The lake receives waters from the Zemu glacier, Yangtse glacier and the Pauhunri glacier that feds water for the River Teesta and its tributaries.

The place is open throughout the day, but it’s better to leave the place by evening due to its isolation from the city.
Entry Fee
There are no entry fees charged from you in order to trek to the lake. Although Indian nationals have to take permission from Indian Army or the Sikkim Police before visiting the lake; foreign tourists are not allowed to visit the lake.

The most recommended an ideal time to visit Lachen is in between the months of November and June as the weather is most pleasant during these times

The nearest rail track to the city of Lachung is the Darjeeling Railway Station situated at a distance of 242.8 km and takes around 9 hours and 25 minutes to reach the valley. The nearest airport is the Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal.
